SALONE Premier League…Ports desperate for revenge

By Zainab Joaque and Alhaji Komba

Ports Authority FC will be out for revenge on Tuesday when they engage Freetown City FC who beat them two – nil, in the first round of the Sierra Leone premier League. The Waterfront boys go into this on the back of a 2-1 victory over Mighty Blackpool last weekend.

Muhaid Sesay- likely to start from the bench

For their part, Freetown City FC will be searching for a winning formula to lift them out of relegation zone to keep pace with eighth place Ports.

The absence of Ports Authority’s key midfielder Ayo King who was sent off by referee Raymond Coker in the match against Blackpool will be of major concern to Cameroon Coach Ken Pabi.

With coach Pabi hinting at possible changes in the players unit to be able to engage Freetown City, he told Politico Sports that he is heavily relying on the young players to win the match for him “the match against Freetown City is not an easy one, as we will be looking to overturn the defeat we suffered at their hands in the first round”.

Ports Authority are boasting of having young talents in the likes of striker Foday Mansaray aka Ballack who is currently replacing Donald Wellington aka. Korbor Korbor , Sullay Kamara, Allieu Kargbo aka Tokoyi.

On the other hand Captain Muhaid Sesay, who’s just returned to Freetown from international duty with the national team, is likely to start from the bench.

Team Manager of Freetown City Palmer Wright has vowed that his players will definitely take another three points from Ports despite their current standing. ‘I have great respect for them, it is a very good team, but football is football, we shall see what will happen”.

A win for Ports will see them replace FC Johansen in the sixth position while Freetown City FC will remain at the bottom of the log even if they win.
