Two DJs’ beef

Just days after a top DJ, Basseem Ayoub and one of the best lyricists, Kao Denero exchanged words; two known DJs, Alhaji K. Tarawallie and Dee Jay Dawish have been the latest.

The two were friends before the hosting of the LAKE Hip-Hop award at the Stadium Swimming Pool. Alhaji K. Tarawally (Laj K) works for Premier Tok Radio and Dee Jay Dawish works for Star Radio. Laj K was the President of DJ’s Association (SLEREDA) while Dawish was his Vice. What went wrong between the two needs an explanation as Dawish and others went ahead to form Alliance of DJs.

Since then, there has been silence beefing between the two which finally came out after DJ Dawish commented on the award winners. He posted on his facebook wall that “sad enough to know, lake awards was no recognize awards.....week before the show there was a press release by the real LAKE TEAM stating they were not part of it......LAJ K decided to do it on his own...lol. The Trophy was....dammm sucks for our superstar, imagine Mr. One trophy was broken lol,....how could stage awards at swimming pool?”

Commenting on the best dancehall artiste category, which had nominees like Raga Spice, Dallas B, and A-Stunt, he said the highest featured was Raga Spice who deserve the award but rather, Dallas B won it. For the award of Best Hip-Hop group, he picked Trouble Makers as the youngest moving group that deserve winning than Black Army.

Dawish condemned that Ali Conteh’s name should not be on those shortlisted for best hip-hop producer, as he was not a hip producer. He even said Tetteh of Cathouse who won it did not deserve it but Sound Boy does. What he laughed out most at was the best hip-hop album which YOK7 won. He said: “haha.....me belly dae bus tedae ...PM deserves it....Kao album was...star is a mix flava...YOK’s album was afro beat.”

For the best R&B artiste, he said R-Jay was the only deserving nominee because the others: Famous, K-Man and Heaven Jay does afro beat, ‘gumbay’ style music and not R&B.

The reply came from Laj K: “O Sierra Leoneans! When would we ever stop the pulling down syndrome, sabotage, wickedness, bad heart, selfishness, envious mind, rebellious attitude? When President Kabbah came to power he said: ‘Le wilef bad hat,’ and when President Koroma also came to power he said ‘Lehwi change wi attitude.’ Why our leaders are always urging us to refrain from bad and devilish things?,” he asked.

He blasted that if people cannot initiate and develop ideas “why can't u lend ur support to urbroda rather than bashing or sabotaging HIM? Why are people using facebook for cheap popularity? Why are some people absolutely deceiving the public? Why are people using me to gain cheap popularity?” he queried.

Still beating around the bush, he said he was absolutely incomparable to some of his colleague DJs: “For the first time in S/L history, I formed d first registered DJs’ association (SLERADA). I opened bank account for dem, singlehandedly wrote a whole constitution for them, organized an ultra-modern launching ceremony at Old Skool Nite Club, developed project for them. I left up to Le 2 million in their account b4 I honorably resigned”.

He cautioned that it was after he had sacked Dawish as his Vice President that things went estranged between them. “It was after I sacked Dawish as my Vice President of SLeRaDA that he went out to REBEL against me by forming ALLIANCE DJs SALONE.A bo! Why are these same people I suffered to UNITE, now PROFESSIONALLY hunting MY SUCCESS STORY down? Bo! una tell DAWISH and emoda so-called DJs dem for lef me boh. Me en some of unanorto d same”.
