BY ZAINAB JOAQUE As the Sierra Leone Premier League reaches its 140thmatch today when East End Lions face Old Edwardians at the national stadium, spectators are becoming increasingly uncertain about which team will claim the crown. The Killers’ have vowed to roar at third place Edwards, after narrowly winning against visiting Wusum Stars 1-0 and are bent on stabilizing their form. Old Edwardians who made a good start in the first round suffered four defeats in a row recently but have halted their sloppiness with a 2-0 win over struggling Freetown City with caretaker Coach Sheku Kamara. Former coach Amidu Karim was sacked for abandoning their match against Diamond Stars in Kono, citing crowd intimidation and violence. In another encounter, Freetown City will fight it out with FC Johansen; the former failed to inspire confidence after a disappointing 2-0 loss to East End Lions ending their giant killing streak over Central Parade and FC Kallon. Johansen are brimming with confidence after their last match defeating league leaders Diamond Stars 1-0 in Freetown over the weekend. Tomorrow, Kissy All Stars who are desperately in need of points to move away from the relegation zone will meet Central Parade. Parade are not seating comfortably on the league table after losing three of five matches played in the second round. On Friday, Ports Authority’s trip to Tongo may not be smooth against Gem Stars who are perching in the relegation zone with just 21 points from 20 games played. The Waterfront boys’ might just extend their win, but Gem Stars need to put their 1-0 loss to Bo Rangers behind them to scoop maximum points from Ports. In Kono, Diamond Stars who are sitting uncomfortably on top of the table, would have their leadership put to test against Bo Rangers who are in dire need to make up for their goalless draw away to Kissy All Stars . Diamond Stars have lost their last two matches on the road.
