The police Local Unit Commander of the Western Division in Bo, Southern Region says his officers are more than determined to police the November 17 elections. Speaking to Politico, Richard Aiah Marka said that political violence was a thing of the past, as he had “succeeded” in his massive sensitization drive to preach against any form of violence as he said the police would not take the perpetrators of any such act lightly. The Police Commander issued a stern warning to politicians to desist from any act that will hinder the conduct of the elections. He said the police are “totally independent and shall work in the interest of the people”. On the strength of the police, Marka said they did not have enough manpower but that other security forces such as prisons and the Native Administration Officers would give backup to the police to secure the November polls. “We want a peaceful election in Bo and the country at large. We hate violence and shall not tolerate it at any moment,” he assured
