The
President of Benin and Chairman of the African Union, Yayi Boni
arrives in Freetown this morning, according to a press alert from
State House.
The
alert says the visiting head of state will extend the AU's
congratulatory message to President Ernest Bai Koroma on his
re-election.
However
a usually reliable source at State House told Politico
that
the visit may not be unconnected to the fluid political atmosphere
following elections that are disputed by the main opposition Sierra
Leone People's Party who have alleged electoral fraud and malpractice
and have refused to accept the results.
But the SLPP
Secretary General, Sulaiman Banja Tejan-Sie says his party is not
aware of the visit.
