NaCSA commences SSN payment today

The National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) has today 10th July, 2024 commenced the enrolment of Economic Inclusion (EI) and Social Safety Net (SSN) payment to the Aged and persons with disabilities.

The project which will end on the 4th August, 2024 targets five selected districts- Falaba, Karene, Western Area Rural, Pujehun and Kenema based on the poverty map, and these districts will benefit from the EI and the SSN which is the Cash Transfer meant for the extreme poor.

Sierra Leone's president accepts Auditor-General’s removal

A statement from the Office of the Press Secretary at State House says President Julius Madaa Bio has directed the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice to “initiate” the necessary procedure for the removal of the suspended Auditor-General, Mrs. Lara Taylor –Pearce, pursuant to section 137(7)(b) of the Constitution of Sierra Leone.

ECOWAS urges commitment to Sierra Leone's national unity agreement

Member States of the regional bloc, ECOWAS have urged both the Government of Sierra Leone and the main opposition All People’s Congress to commit themselves within the stipulated time frame regarding implementation of  the ‘Agreement for National Unity’ both sides signed to recently and to be steadfast in “resolving all differences within the agreement’s framework’’.

Italian Bishop of Makeni Diocese, George Biguzzi, to be buried in Makeni

The remains of retired Catholic Bishop George Biguzzi- one of the most influential figures who helped broker dialogue between rebel forces and the Government during Sierra Leone’s civil war, are to be flown to Sierra Leone for burial in Makeni, according to senior officials at the Diocese in the north of the country.  Bishop Biguzzi reportedly passed away in the Italian city of Parma, on July 1, aged 88.

FoRUT trains youths on Mental Health Care

A local Non-Governmental Organization, FoRUT has conducted a three-day training on Mental Health Care and Services and how to facilitate sessions on Community Mental Health care.
