Journalists and social media bloggers from across the country have pledged to intensify cooperation with the Ministry of Health to facilitate the successful rolling out of the ministry’s new approach to healthcare delivery in Sierra Leone.

 The commitment came at the end of the first-ever town hall meeting between the ministry and media workers held at Family Kingdom in Freetown on Monday, June 24, 2024.

Four Army Majors and a woman who were declared "Wanted" by Government for their alleged involvement in the 26th November 2023  failed coup attempt have been detained by the authorities in Conakry for extradition to Sierra Leone.

News of the arrests came in a Press Release from the Ministry of Information and Civic Education last evening following what the release says was a joint operation by Guinean and Sierra Leonean security forces.

With the high prevalence of filth in Freetown, members of Parliament have emphasized the need for Freetown City Council’s (FCC) bye-laws to be strengthened in order to keep the city clean.

The MPs made this call during an engagement between members of the Committee on Local Government and Rural Development in Parliament and personnel from the council. They stressed that sanitation in the city is very poor and that strong laws will go a long way in helping reduce rubbish in the municipality.

The Executive of the Bike Riders Union (BRU), Government officials, and officers from the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority have discussed strategies related to Conflict Prevention and Frontline Negotiations.

The event which was hosted by UNDP at the Bintumani Hotel in Freetown on the 14^th of June, 2024 is part of the Youth Bike Riders’ Peace Building Funded (PBF) project.

Following investigations done by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament, the Gento Group of Companies has been exonerated of accusation in the Auditor General’s Report that it received double payments.

The committee on the 11th June 2024 found that there was a typographical error in the information given to the auditors by the Deputy Director of Finance at the Ministry of Finance Kemokai Fatorma who was then asked to apologize.
