Education on a "better footing" in southern Sierra Leone

The Deputy Director of the Ministry of Education in Pujehun District says the standard of education has improved in the district. Alie H.B Kargbo said that for the past three years he had engaged in effective monitoring with his team to ensure that the level of education was improved.

He also said evidence of this was demonstrated in the last public examination results of pupils in the district.

The cheque was presented to EduAid by the chairman of Mercury International, Samir Hassanyeh at a ceremony held over the weekend at the Furlonge EducAid Senior Secondary School in Rolal, Porto Loko District.

Clash over land deal in southern Sierra Leone

A land lease agreement involving the agribusiness firm Natural Habitat has caused serious rift among leaders in the Pujehun District, south of the country.

The Member of Parliament representing Constituency 091, Sidie Tunis, was at loggerheads with the District Council Chairman, Sadiq Silla, over the agreement which the lawmaker said he was vehemently opposed to.
