All is set for Sierra Leone’s first health and nutrition fair.

The occasion which is slated for the Miatta Conference Center in Freetown this week end, is geared towards popularizing good nutritional lifestyles while promoting healthy living.

The Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Secretariat, in collaboration with the Scaling Up Nutrition and Immunization Civil Society Platform (SUNI CSP), is behind the three-day events that will take the form of a float parade, a grand opening session and three days of exhibition.

New labor policy to address illegal migration in Sierra Leone

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has with support from its international partners developed a draft labour migration policy to curb illegal labour migration. The document is being validated at a two-day workshop at the New Brookfields Hotel in Freetown.

Save the Children launches ‘every last child’ campaign

Save the children International will today launch an ‘every last child’ campaign at the Miatta Conference Hall.

The campaign, which will target both boys and girls with special preference to child mothers, was designed to help advocate for every Sierra Leonean child to have access to quality education, protection of their fundamental human rights and proper health care without marginalization. It will also specifically targets vulnerable children like children of beggars, child traders, and child mothers.

Sierra Leone police resist Koidu Mayor’s return

The suspended Mayor of Koidu, Saa Emerson Lamina returned to the municipality yesterday amid tight police security to stop any of his supporters from processing to welcome him.

The police arrested 10 people for what the regional head AIG Alfred Karrow-Kamara said was “incitement and unlawful procession”.

18 motorbikes which he said were abandoned by their owners are currently under police custody.
