The World Bank expects a wide range of reforms by the Sierra Leone government, a senior official has said.

Henry Kerali, who was recently named the Bank`s regional director overseeing its operations in Ghana, Sierra Leone and Liberia, said they were expecting reforms in a number of areas but he singled out Energy, telecommunications and public finance management.

Finance Minister Dr Kaifala Marah has pleaded with government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to adopt a frugal approach in the management of their budgetary allocations.

Marah bemoaned frequent requests from MDAs for extra-budgetary allocations, singling out requests relating to overseas travels as particularly pointless. He said as a ministry, they expected their clients particularly MDAs, to be prudent in financial management and not to inundate them with such requests.

The National Ebola Response Center (NERC) has warned against stigmatization of Ebola survivors.

Sierra Leone currently has over four thousand people who survived the viral hemorrhagic fever disease since it broke out in May last year. And as the end of the year-long epidemic nears in sight, attention is gradually being focused on survivors who are making numerous complaints around how society treats them.

Commercial transport vehicles have returned to their pre-Ebola sitting arrangement, despite the threat of the spread of the viral disease in the country.

The Nation Ebola Response Center confirmed that it had approved a request from commercial drivers which it granted. But the situation sparked confusion between commuters and motorists because of the apparent stealthy manner the police implemented the decision.

An initiative aimed at reintegrating some 800 people who took part in burial of Ebola victims have been unveiled.

The United Nations Development Programme and the  International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) will jointly implement the 12-month post-Ebola project that also caters for infection control and prevention volunteers who worked with the Sierra Leone Red Cross.

Crown Technical University College, an affiliated institution to the Cambridge University in England, has concluded a two-day seminar which aims to capacitate Sierra Leoneans in the management of the petroleum and gas sector of the country.

The seminar was held at the college campus on Pike Street in Freetown. Beneficiaries were drawn from among final year students of the college.
