Sierra Leone's club champion coach sets sights high

Coach of East End Lions, John Keister have said he will continue to set high standard for himself as a coach. He spoke to Politico shortly after he was awarded on Saturday evening as the best coach of the season in the just concluded Sierra Leone Premier League campaign.

“I have always set myself standard. When the season starts, I will regroup, I will have time to reflect on my success and see where we go. But it never changes my ambition about what I want to do and how I want to go about it,” he said.

When news struck social media on Sunday evening that Musa Noah Kamara, aka Musa Tombo is heading back home, there was a combination of reactions; it ranged from shock and laughter to rage and anger. The explanations surrounding this latest episode of drama in Sierra Leone football is at the very least baffling.

Theories have ranged from Black Magic, ownership squabbles to Tombo himself blaming the cold weather in Sweden. The true reason might never be known, even when he has returned home.

Sierra Leone rejects appointment of new football coach

The Ministry of Sports have expressed dissatisfaction over the appointment of Ghanaian born Sellas Tetteh as the coach of Leone Stars.

In a press statement dated Wednesday, 14 August, the ministry accused FA officials of rigging the interview process and hastily appointing Tetteh without the conclusion of the process.

Musa Tombo signs for Swedish side

The top goal scorer in the recently concluded Sierra Leone Premier League Musa Noah Kamara (Musa Tombo) has signed a three- and half-year deal with Swedish second tier side Trelleborgs FF.

The AIK Freetong player thrived last season on loan to East End Lions where he scored 15 goals to win the golden boot and fire his side to win the league in Sierra Leone.

Kamara finally signed the deal with the Swedish side after almost a month of trial with the club. This is the first international move for the 19 year old.

Sierra Leone to face Liberia in World Cup Qualifiers

Sierra Leone has been drawn to face neighboring Liberia in the 2022 World Cup preliminary qualifiers. The first leg of the draw will be played in Monrovia on September 2nd and the return leg will later play in Freetown 10th September 2019.

The winner of the tie will then progress to the group stage of another qualifiers for team on the African continent.  Eventual winners of the final group qualifiers will then progress to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Sierra Leone FA vows to continue with 16 team Premier League amidst controversy

The Sierra Leone Football Association has vowed to continue with it plans to increase the number of participants in the Sierra Leone Premier League from 14 to 16 teams. This fresh commitment comes amidst controversy whether they used the right procedure to add two more teams to the top tier league.

Last week the FA released a statement that the league will be expanded to accommodate 16 teams. The statement further went on to specifically single out the Northern region to play for the extra two spots.

Kamboi Eagles protest for third place

Kamboi Eagles have written a letter of protest to the Premier League Board demanding that Mighty Blackpool doesn’t play their game in hand with RSLAF.

The Eagles who are currently third in the league with 33 points lead Mighty Blackpool by two points who are on 35. Mighty Blackpool who had their game with RSLAF postponed will move to third place if they win their game in hand.
