Sierra Leone move AFCON match to Nigeria

Sierra Leone will host their 2017 AFCON qualification tie against Ivory Coast in Nigeria on the 6th of September because of the ongoing CAF suspension on football in Ebola countries. It's not clear in which venue the match would take place.

A release from the SLFA says the association was, "proud to announce to the general public that the Nigerian Football Association NFA and the Government of Nigeria have approved the request of the SLFA to host the upcoming match against the Elephants of Ivory coast in Nigeria’’

Four Beach Volleyball players for All Africa Games

Four beach Volleyball players are poised to represent Sierra Leone in the upcoming All Africa games in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Coach Sorie Kamara told this press that they initially invited 18 players both male and female from the provinces for trials at the Lumley Beach Volleyball Arena.

He said after a selection process based on performance "I was left with 8 players, four each in the male and female categories and they are now having their final trials  after which the best four would be selected for the tournament."

Football can resume, says SLFA Number 2

The Sierra Leone Football Association has lifted its ban on all football activities in Sierra Leone as a result of the government's relaxation of Ebola restrictions throughout the country.

An SLFA Vice President of the SLFA Brima Mazola Kamara said "we will like to informed the public that the war against Ebola is not yet over...we must continue to adhere to the necessary precautionary measures in every football gathering."

COFA LEAGUE BACK SOON

The Central One Football Association COFA looks set to commence their inter-community league and non division league following the recent lifting of restrictions on sporting activities by president Koroma. According to COFA Secretary General Philipson Cline-Cole said they welcome the move by government with Ebola now significantly contained throughout the country.

Babatunde Vows to Unify SWASAL

Ibrahim Babatunde Sesay who is a presidential candidate in the coming executive election of the Sport Writers Association of Sierra Leone has told Politico that if elected he will "unify SWASAL and accelerate its development."

With less than two weeks to the event, he said his other priorities include "building the capacity of our members, decentralising our operations and instilling a culture of transparency and accountability, and gender equity in SWASAL.
