OBAMA IS NOT COMING TO SIERRA LEONE

The most powerful man in the world, Barack Obama will be in Africa at the end of June. He will visit three countries: South Africa, Tanzania and Senegal. This tour is taking place only months after Obama received De Pa in the White House for talks on "democracy and trade". For us here it was a great honour that our leader was among three others invited to that meeting.

FIRST LADY ROLLS INTO KONOLAND IN COL. GHADAFFI-STYLE CONVOY

The people of the troubled district of Kono must be forgiven for thinking that Col. Ghadaffi had resurrected from the grave and was on a visit to their headquarter town of Koidu last weekend. Actually, it was the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone who was in the area for the funeral of a prominent native of the district.

The late man was a member, deputy minister and MP under the SLPP, but on a day like that, such sensitivities didn't matter.

THE PMDC LEADER, THE LAND QUESTION AND ALLEGED SUBVERSION – THE REAL QUESTIONS

The PMDC leader spent the weekend in a police cell at CID headquarters on Slater Terrace in central Freetown. It’s been a real rollercoaster few days for the Dalai Lama and his future as a free man is uncertain as he faces a serious charge of subversion that could land him at the notorious Pademba Road prisons for a long time. A lot has been written and said already.

But Lord Thompson is unusually very quiet about all the unopposed and political massaging that went on at the great convention.

FAILED LOGUS KOROMA AND THE THIRD TERM AGENDA

Those who know Logus Koroma must tell him right away that there will be no escape for him and his THIRD TERM MOVEMENT if they end up plunging this nation into chaos once again.

We heard him clearly on an APC –sponsored program on Universal Radio on Tuesday evening telling the nation that De Pa has done well for Sierra Leone more than any other leader before him and so there was nothing wrong in him seeking a third term in office. Let’s make the following points:

SUPREME COURT CASE MESSES UP CENTRAL FREETOWN

We still can’t believe that Munu ordered his people to lock down the heart of Freetown and manhandle opposition supporters the way they did just because of a case at the Supreme Court about an election petition that has taken longer than usual to be heard. Our judiciary wouldn’t like this but we strongly believe that Kenya and Ghana shamed us into moving after dragging foot for weeks.

The Kenyans have finished their own election petition and the Ghanaians are very close to closing the case one way or the other.
