CRIMINAL AND SEDITIOUS LIBEL LAWS MUST GO
We don’t want to open any big argument with our Members of Parliament over the recent collapse of the government’s bid to repeal those obnoxious anti-free media laws in our Public Order Act. We’ve been told that by virtue of some provision in the parliamentary Standing Order the papers have to be re-submitted and debated so that a decision can be made to repeal or not. Frankly we don’t think this parliament has any choice but to repeal this very bad law.

ANOTHER CASE OF “I CAN’T BREATHE” IN AMERICA
Once again the world is talking about the killing of another unarmed black man by the police in the great United States of America, on Donald Trump’s watch. This has happened even before the dust settles on the killing of another black man by a father and son who say they thought he was a thief. Really? What is worthier of note in this latest killing by the police is that the deceased, like the other black brother in New York, repeated that very familiar line: “I CAN’T BREATHE.” He did it over and over.

OBSERVING AFRICA DAY: HOW FAR ARE WE FROM THE PROMISE OF INDEPENDENCE?
There was a lot on social media on Monday this week about AFRICA DAY. Yes AFRICA DAY, marking the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), now called the African Union (AU). The OAU was formed principally to help liberate the whole continent from the EVIL known as COLONIAL RULE. It was difficult and bloody but the continent is free today.
