DE PA BANS DEMONSTRATIONS NEAR THE BIG HOUSE

Just when we thought this was the way to go to get things done quickly in this country, De Pa has pulled back from DEMONSTRATE AT STATE HOUE TO GET WHAT YOU WANT mentality. De Pa now says he wants to be able to work in a quiet atmosphere and not be constantly greeted on the entrance to State House by demonstrators calling for this and that.

CORNELIUS DEVEAUX MISSES THE POINT ON DAY ONE

We've now had time to digest the contents of this press release from the Ministry of Information, signed by our friend Cornelius Deveaux. We like his early enthusiasm but somehow we believe he is skating on thin ice. Attacking the international media is a very bad signal to the rest of the world about our place among democracies. No doubt about that. So in the spirit of our friendship and our common nationality, we make the following comments:

AUSTERITY MEASURES IN SALONE: BUT WHERE WILL IT ALL END? WE KNOW! 

Documents have been flying all over the place, mainly on social media, pointing to  serious times ahead for the people of Sierra Leone. We have seen one that talks about the government implementing serious austerity measures that would hit the pockets of civil servants very hard.

WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY - CRIMINAL LIBEL STILL ON

It's now close to NINE YEARS since De Pa came to office with a big manifesto promise to REPEAL the anachronistic colonial legacy called Criminal and Sedition Libel laws. Throughout his campaign before the 2007 elections, De Pa was very clear that those laws would go on day one of his presidency. NINE YEARS on, the laws are still hanging over the head of journalists. In fact it has fallen on many heads since De Pa came to office.

Is there anything wrong in De Pa meeting WIZKID? We are talking about the Nigerian Afro-pop entertainer who frankly thinks too much about himself. Well since that late night meeting took place social media has been full of the usual shouting and all that.
