NRA MEETING TARGET WITH THE BURDEN ON THE ORDINARY PEOPLE 

We've heard NRA people on at least two radio stations in Freetown this week announcing to the whole world that NRA had met its target for revenue collecting for a certain period. We could feel the excitement in the man's voice. He asked the whole country to celebrate with them. Well not in as many words. Ok then congratulations. But there are a few issues we want to raise on this tax and target question.

SO THE COLOUR GREEN WAS PART OF THE PROBLEM WITH SLeCAD?

If that food-in-abundance minister is still in office by this time next week, we will conclude that there are many SACRED COWS around here. Here's a man paid by the state to do a job as serious as putting food on our table, taking crucial decisions about agricultural development and food security based on party colours. Welcome to Sierra Leone in the 21st century.

And we really believe the other guy who calls himself Public Relations Officer in that ministry should also follow his boss.

INCUMBENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN THROWN OUT OF OFFICE IN NIGERIA

At what point does an incumbent discover he was on the point of being thrown out of office? We know this is a difficult question because these things are normally kept deep down in the heart of the incumbents. But for media people like us, we notice little signs of the incumbent losing his grip on things as election day draws near. Let's have one example from Sierra Leone in 2007 and the other from the recent election in Nigeria.

SOCIAL MEDIA UNDER ATTACK: LONG LIVE THE BERATER

The BERATER has announced that this government will soon launch a war on social media – the government will track down people posting critical comments of De Pa and his government and bring them before a court. From what we know, should those people be brought before a court, they would surely wind up in jail.
