The national male U20 football team of Sierra Leone ‘shooting stars’, will on Saturday May 5 host their Chadian counterparts in a return leg encounter of the ongoing 2013 African U20 youth championship qualifiers.
The match will take place at the national stadium in Freetown
Two weeks ago the Shooting Stars traveled to Chad in a first leg tie where they won by 3-2 at the 22nd Idris Derby Stadium in Ndjamena. The Sierra Leone side twice came from behind before getting the winner in the dying moment of the encounter.
Speaking to Politico news, head coach Alimamy Turay, said his side would fight against complacency and desperately go for a win.
“Our current preparation is not only to host Chad in a return leg encounter, but to also be in readiness to face Cameroun in the next stage when we would have eliminated Chad,” he said.
Coach Turay, however, stated that despite their win in Chad the Chadians should not be considered as pushovers.
“They have some technical abilities that, in some instances, tend to destabilize our game plans. So, it is going to be a serious encounter,” he warned.
Meanwhile, correspondence from CAF says a quartet of the officiators for the match is coming from Conakry Guinea, while the match commissioner would be coming from Dakar, Senegal. The match will complete preliminary first round of the qualifiers.
The visitors are expected to land in Sierra Leone on Thursday May 3, 2012 with a 29- man delegation from Chad.
A draw for Shooting Stars will see them through to the second face.
