The duel between Mighty Blackpool and Wusum Stars should attract more than a passive interest. The Tiss Tass boys are basking in the euphoria of wining their last match away to Bo Rangers while their opponents Wusum Stars are in the same mood after a convincing victory over the Waterfront boys, over the weekend.
Both teams are in a fighting mood, and the real test of their strength comes this evening when both team meet at the National Stadium.
Blackpool’s Coach Abu Sankoh a.k.a. Magic boasted to Politico Sports that his side is determined to overturn their first-leg defeat to Wusum. “We are calling the shots now and we will not be resting on our oars, as we want to occupy the fourth place in the league table”, he said.
The Tiss Tass Boys’ are currently seeking to make up for their poor run during the first leg of the league by trying to snatch a victory from Wusum Stars today.
Tomorrow Thursday 21, relegation-threatened Freetown City will play host to league leaders FC Kallon, a potentially fiery battle between the two sides.
Manager Palmer Wright is confident that his City boys will overturn the 2-0 defeat they suffered against Kallon during the first leg, but the pressure is on them because any slip-up in that encounter will have them stumbling back to the bottom of the table.
On Friday, as derbies go, there could be none better than the east end derby, featuring Central Parade and Ports Authority at the national stadium.
Ports are determined to vent their spleen on Parade who defeated them during their first round of the league 2-0.
Kissy All Stars coming fresh from their 3-1 drubbing at the hands of Kallon FC will be determined to stop Kamboi Eagles of Kenema.
Bo Rangers who are still reeling from their 1-0 defeat at home by visiting Blackpool will host Gem Stars who won their last match against third place Old Edwardians in Tongo Fields.
Old Edwardians are now hanging precariously in the balance after four straight defeats.
