Swimming Championship Ends

The Sierra Leone Swimming Association (SLSA) ended a one day swimming championship at the national stadium swimming pool over the weekend.

Swimmers from across the country took part in the event which attracted dignitaries from various sporting disciplines.

In the 50 meters Free Style Osman Kamara came first, second was Moriss Beale and third Sahr James. In the women 50 meters Free Style Ruth Turay was first and second Binta R. Jalloh.

SPL: Kallon, Parade match called-off due to waterlogged pitch

The match between FC Kallon and Central Parade was called off last evening by Referee Idrissa Sallieu in the 38th minute of play because of a waterlogged pitch at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) grounds, Kingtom.

This is the first match to be called off since the Salone Premier League started about a week ago.

Matches continue today, Tuesday 9th July at the SLFA grounds, where Old Edwardians will seek to avenge their weekend defeatat the hands of FC Kallon over the weekend when they face Anti-Drugs Strikers.

Syke Rangers & Area Best are CBF/WA Champions

Skye Rangers and Area Best have won the Western Area (WA) Craig Bellamy Foundation (CBF) Under 14 and Under 12 championships respectively over the weekend at the Approved School grounds Wellington.

Rangers defeated High Tension FC 2-1 in the U-14 finals, whilst Area Best won on post-game penalties against Malcolm FC 5-4 to clinch the U-12 Championship.

COFA update… Ferry Stars Coach desperate for a win

The head coach of Ferry Stars Joseph Conteh has said that he is desperate for a win when they face defending champion Real Mack today at the Parade Grounds in the ongoing Central One Football Association (COFA) non-division league.

“Our first match ended goalless against Techam FC, but we have solved the problem of goal scoring and I promise you we will take all three points” boasted Coach Conteh.

Ahead of Barcelona Games…Swimming Pool Closed

The management of the national stadium has closed the swimming pool, preventing members of the Sierra Leone Swimming Association (SLSA) from using the facility as they prepare for the Barcelona Games in July this year.
