Sport betting company, Mercury International has donated US $ 5,900 to the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone, SWASAL to sponsor two journalists from the association to cover the national team’s weekend encounter with Cape Verde.

The national team Leone Stars left Freetown yesterday, Wednesday 12 June for Cape Verde to honour their fixture in the World Cup Qualifying series Group B with little hope, after a disappointing 2-2 draw at home against Tunisia last weekend.

The items displayed at a news conference organized by SLCA at the national stadium over the weekend, includes 30 Pairs of Boots Clips, 60 Water Bottles, 6 premium Class Road Racing Bicycles and 4 Pairs of spear wheels.

The newly-appointed coach of Leone Stars, Jonathan Mckinstry says he is pleasantly surprised by the level of professionalism the Ministry of Sports and the Sierra Leone Football Association have accorded him and expresses the hope the trend continues.
He made this statement on Tuesday 21 May during his unveiling ceremony and that of his team.

The ongoing football Super League is gaining momentum at the Kaytee field in Freetown and the provincial towns, as FC Kallon make their second trip to Tongo to face Gem Stars on Friday 24 May, after they drew 1-1 with Kamboi Eagles in Kenema.
Speaking to this press the head coach of FC Kallon, Charlie Wright said his boys had taken the league very seriously as it was now getting very competitive.
