Sierra Rutile Sponsor Golf Tournament

Sierra Rutile Limited is excited to announce its first annual golf tournament, the Sierra Rutile Golf Classic.

In a press release issued on 23 October 2012, the company said the tournament would be taking place throughout this week, to be followed by a reception at the Freetown Golf Club during which the winners would be announced.

The Public Relations Officer of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Sorie Ibrahim Sesay has told Politico sport that the ban imposed on the Sporting Kansas City striker, Kei Kamara and the FK Baku midfielder, Ibrahim `Obreh` Kargbo is still in place despite persistent rumors that the two players have been cleared to re-join the national team.

Sierra Leone to lose another athlete

Sierra Leone looks set to lose another athlete, a decade after Eunice Barber switched her nationality to compete for France in the World championships.

The Holland-based athlete, Solomon Baryoh told Politico he made up his mind to take up Dutch citizenship and compete for his new country in future after he was left out of the 2012 Olympic Games in London by the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone.

Edmond Michael FC & Mamoud FC Grab Awards

The national male and female champions of the just concluded Airtel U-17 tournament, Edmond Michael and Mamoud FC grabbed most of the awards in the 2nd edition of the Airtel award ceremony held at the Miata Conference hall on Friday.

Captain of Mamoud FC, Doris Ansumana grabbed the best player and the golden boot award while the Edmond Michael striker, Mohamed Haka who registered ten goals in the tournament was named the best player and golden boot award winner.

Shooting Stars Out Of U-20 African Cup

The Sierra Leone U-20 side, Shooting Stars were on Saturday knocked out of the CAF Youth championship after they suffered 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Cameroon U-20 side indomitable Cub, in Yaoundé.

Shooting Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by the Cameroonians in a water-logged pitch in Freetown in the first leg of the competition at the National Stadium in Freetown two weeks back.

 

24 Communities Set For Abdul Kanasieu Trophy

Twenty four Communities are set for the 4th edition of the Abdul Kanasieu trophy sponsored by the chairman of the Western Area Football Association (WAFA), Abdul Hamid Kanasieu and organized by the Fourah Amateur Football Association (FAFA) .

Speaking to this press, The Secretary General of FAFA, Abdul Rahman Davis, expressed delight at the timely intervention of the key sponsor, in making the tournament a success.

He described Kanasieu as “a man of substance who wants to see football develop in the country.
