Sierra Leone, Liberia Partner to Develop Cricket

Sierra Leone and Liberia have signed an agreement to coordinate the development of cricket in their countries and encourage their neighbours to take up the game, according to Development Officer of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) Emmanuel Pessima.

Under the agreement, “the SLCA shall provide coaching and other resource assistance to Liberia including umpiring and groundsmanship.”

Sierra Leone will also advise Liberia on how to produce cricket equipment and introduce the Liberian cricket team to other cricket-playing nations in Africa.

Doping is all about cheating’ - Dr Patrick Coker

The Medical Doctor of the Sierra Leone delegation Dr. Patrick Coker who also doubles as Vice President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) has said that doping is all about cheating which the entire International Olympic Committee is against.

He made the statement after some athletes tested positive a few days into the games.

He said the Olympic Games is about fair play and athletes must compete on the same level playing field.

Prince Duwai donates to two Salone athletes

Former Sierra Leonean athlete Prince Duwai has donated sporting equipment to the two Sierra Leonean athletes Ola Sesay and Ibrahim Turay few days ahead of their events in this year London Olympic Games.

Duwai who competed for Sierra Leone in the 400 meters internationally said that he was doing such donation as his own contribution towards the success of the athletes.

Salone athletes are very determined - NOC President

The President of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone Henry Moore has said that the two Sierra Leonean athletes in this year Olympic Games in London are determined to spring surprises especially the female athlete Ola Sesay who is very hopeful of winning at least a bronze medal.

Moore made this statement to this medium after visiting the two athletes at the Olympic Village in London on Monday July 30th 2012.

Salone Premier League…Battle for the top

The boys from the eastern district of Kono, Diamond Stars have been predicted as the clear-cut favourites for the trophy, FC Kallon have bagged the highest points during this round and they have been the most consistent side.
