SWASAL Reschedules Election

The Sportswriters Association of Sierra Leone SWASAL has announced that its Election for a new executive will now take place on March 16. The organization postponed the election to allow its members to cover last weekend's two international matches in Freetown and for its members to pay their subscription fees.

The president of the association Fajah Barrie said the deadline for all members to pay their subscription fees is Friday 8th March adding that the Electoral Commissioner of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists SLAJ will conduct the elections.

Golf president assures of unique tournament

The president of the Sierra Leone Golf Club Solomon Samba has said that this year’s golf tournament will be unique and entertaining as it will involve professional golfers across the country and some international golfers too from Under-16 to senior levels.

“I will see that the tournament succeeds more than what has been happening over the years” he bluffed.

The tournament which started on the Monday 18th will run through Saturday 23rd.

Mixed misfortunes for FC Johansen, Diamond Stars

Sierra Leone Representatives in this year’s CAF Competitions FC Johansen and Diamond Stars have returned home without a win after engaging their opponents in Liberia and Ivory Coast at the weekend.

The Champions of Sierra Leone, Diamond Stars who represented the country in the CAF Champions league were thrashed 5-1 by AFAD of Ivory Coast in Abidjan.

Preview…National Play off Ends Today

The national play offs to determine promotions in the Sierra Leone Premier League end in Freetown today with four teams -  Sierra Leone Police, RSLAF, Bo United and Anti-Drugs in the semi-finals battling to book a place.

Bo United will face RSLAF in the first match while Anti-Drugs will play SLP In the second at the SLFA football Academy Kingtom.

…As National Playoffs begin, 12 teams fight for Premier League spots

The national playoff starts on the 10 February with 12 teams from across the country battling for a place in the Premier League. The teams have been grouped into four as follows.

Group A, RSLAF, Seaside Rangers, Marampa Stars,

Group B. Althababan, Stationery stars, Gulf FC

Group C. African Team, Kolenten, Rovers FC,

Group D. Bo United, SLP, Manchester City

Referee course ends in Kenema

A two-day refreshers’ course for provincial referees has ended at the TejanKabba Hall (Eastern Polytechnic) in Kenema. Twenty-six participants from Kono, Bo and Kenema took part in the course.

According to an instructor, David Sorie, the course was designed to capacitate the referees and improve their physical ability in officiating matches.

He warned the participants to work on their fitness which he said will be the key to officiating difficult matches.

The Craig Bellamy Foundation national league is in progress as clubs battle it out to have players in the CBF academy

FC Malcolm football Club, currently taking part in the Under 12 and Under 14 leagues over the weekend organized a one day seminar on the theme ‘’Parents should send their children to school’’ in partnership with a group called Community Development Watch based in the central Freetown.
