Mercury sponsors two journalists to Swaziland

Sport betting company, Mercury International has donated twelve million, eight hundred twenty-five thousand leones and two (2) return air tickets to the executive of the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone, SWASSAL, according to a press release signed by the association's Secretary General Magnus Cole.

SPL update…FC Kallon vs. Blackpool

Salone Premier League giants FC Kallon will lock horns with a resurgent Mighty Blackpool on Friday at the national stadium. Both teams have had a poor start in the league and Blackpool's recent defeat at the hands of Port Authority, dented their hope of topping the table.

Blackpool coach, Abu Sankoh said they were ready for the match against FC Kallon and argued that their unbeaten run against their rival, would continue. He said, "I want to win this match and strengthen my position in the league".

Paul Kamara to sack U-20 Coaches

Sports Minister Paul Kamara has said that he will soon sack "the entire technical team of the U-20 national football team". Kamara was speaking to journalists after the team's humiliating 2 - 0 defeat by their Ghanaian counterparts in the southern city of Bo, last weekend.

Swimming course ends

The Sierra Leone Swimming and Water Polo Association has ended a 10-day level 2 coaching course which brought 52 participants from all over the country together in Freetown.

The Course Director Gerd Notelmann from Germany praised the coaches for "participating fully" in the programme. He said the world governing body of swimming considers the level 2 coaching course as "significant" to the development of the sport.

"Bo will Host Leone Stars" - Sorie Ibrahim

The man in charge of competitions at the Sierra Leone Football Association has disclosed that the second leg of Sierra Leone's Nation's Cup qualifier against the southern African kingdom of Swaziland will be played at the new Bo stadium.

Ibrahim Sesay said "that after watching all the facilities at the Stadium, which are up to standard the match between Leone Stars and Swaziland will be hosted here instead of the national stadium in Freetown which is usual venue".

EE Lions, Kamboi Eagles in Sierra Leone FA Cup final

The Leocem FA cup has reached the final stage with East End Lions from the Western Area to clash with Kamboi Eagles of the Eastern Province for the 20 million leone cash prize. To reach the final, EE Lions defeated Bo Rangers 4 -2 on post- game penalties after a goalless draw at the end of 90 minutes.

For their part, Kamboi Eagles eliminated Edmound Michael Foundation also on post - game penalties after 1-1 draw at the Kenema town field.
