SLFA attacks sports journalist

Sahr Morris, Sports reporter with Concord Times newspaper has had his accreditation to cover the 2014 World Cup in Brazil cancelled by the SLFA. According to a letter addressed to his newspaper, the SLFA accused him of publishing "defamatory statements" about its president, Isha Johansen.

The letter, signed by General Secretary Abdul Rahman Swaray reads in part, "let me draw your attention to the fact that you dragged the name of FIFA, CAF and Government of Sierra Leone of having been involved in an electoral fraud in SLFA elections during the last congress".

COFA Inter Area Final…Magazine vs. Soja Tong

Magazine and Soja Tong communities will fight it out in the finals of the Central One Football Association (COFA) inter area league on Sunday 16th February at Parade Grounds.

Magazine Community were unbeaten on the road to the final. They eliminated Wellington Community in the quarter finals and Mount Aureol in the semifinals.

Big boost for amputees

Former president of the Single leg Amputee Sports Association (SLASA) Michael Sillah has donated a second hand Honda car for the use of the SLASA administration and boxes of used clothing and sports jersey, reading books, mattresses, shoes and back packs for amputees and their families.

FC Matino have won the opening match of the re-launched FA Cup which kicked off last weekend in the Southern city of Bo. They defeated FC Kuyateh 7-6 on post game penalties.

Diamond Stars and RSLAF fail to impress

Sierra Leon's two representatives to the CAF tournaments Diamond Stars and RSLAF have lost their opening matches. Diamond Stars were thrashed 6-0 away Raja Casablanca of Morocco the champions league while RSLAF were defeated at home soil by Gamtel of Gambia 1-0 in the CAF confederation cup.

The second legs of both matches are due next week.

Home debut for RSLAF in CAF tourney

The Republic Sierra Leone Armed Forces football team will play their first match in the CAF cup on the 8th of February in Freetown against Gamtel of The Gambia.

Head coach Ibrahim Tombo Bangura told Politico he was very happy to "reach these points for the very first time with a team that emerged from the Division One. Bangura said his team was "training hard as we prepare for this important tournament against Gamtel who've been taking part in this competition for the past years".
